Pair of IHSWLA Alumni Invited to National Team Tryouts

Former IHSWLA standouts Anna Schueler (Loyola) and Frankie Kamely (Montini) have been invited to the US Lacrosse National Team tryouts to be held from August 5-8 at the new US Lacrosse training center near Hunt Valley Maryland. 36 players will be chosen from the initial group of 108 for the training team. After a few practices and cuts, 18 will eventually be rostered for the team for competition in Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) 2017 World Cup which will be held in England next July. This is the true Team USA and is not to be confused with the pay for play US teams that play in tournaments abroad, such as AIST (American International Sports Teams). The USL National Team will be pursuing its 8th and 3rd consecutive world championship.

LOYOLA USES 12-1 RUN TO CAPTURE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

After two weeks of statewide playoffs and several close games including New Trier`s dramatic comeback in the semi-finals against Hinsdale Central, the top two seeds, Loyola Academy and New Trier emerged on Friday to face off for the title at Glenbrook North.

Maine South makes school history as Final Four set for Illinois Girls Lacrosse

Maine South made history advancing to the State Semifinals with a decisive 14-9 victory over Glenbrook South on Thursday night at Conant High School.

Lane Tech wins city championship

Lane held off Northside Prep for an 11-8 win and the first girls lacrosse city championship. Earlier in the season, the Indians also narrowly defeated the Mustangs 9-6. This year saw six schools playing lacrosse in the city, including Taft, Whitney Young, Mather and Lincoln Park. Next year, Jones College Prep will be playing.

IHSA announces state series for boys and girls lacrosse in 2018

The Illinois High School Association announced today boys and girls lacrosse will debut in 2018 with the first state series. The IHSWLA was founded in 1998 with seven teams playing in the state and Linda Weinstein was the first president. Each year, more schools started lacrosse programs.
