IGLA - Illinois Girls Lacrosse Association (Youth lacrosse)

The growth of girls lacrosse is exploding in the Chicagoland area. The biggest increase in participation is at the youth level. Lakeshore Lacrosse has started the IGLA, Illinois Girls Lacrosse Association, a partnership with local park districts and communities to provide practices, competitions, leagues and festival playdays for 1st through 8th graders.

IHSA

The Illinois High School Association is the governing body for athletics for Illinois. The IHSA recently approved a proposal for boys and girls lacrosse to be sanctioned in the state of Illinois when enough schools are participating, lacrosse is currently recognized as an `emerging sport`. All schools playing lacrosse must follow the IHSA rules for sport participation.
