Seven schools will be traveling this weekend to represent Illinois as they compete in the Gateway Classic in St. Louis and the Hannigan Galipault Tournament in Columbus, Ohio.
Loyola Academy, Glenbrook North, Hinsdale Central, Neuqua Valley and Barrington will all play in St. Louis Friday, April 8 and Saturday, April 9 at the Anheuser Busch Complex in St. Louis. Each team will play 4-6 games. Some of the big match-ups include defending Missouri State Champions MICDS facing Glenbrook North at 6 pm Friday, Loyola Academy 8 pm Friday and then Barrington at 8 am on Saturday morning. Hinsdale Central will take on a very tough Lafayette team on Saturday at 5 pm.
Also this weekend, Lake Forest and New Trier will travel for the second year to Ohio to play in the Hannigan Galipault Tournament. Lake Forest will play the defending Ohio State Champions Upper Arlington at 7 pm Friday night and then play one of the top ranked teams in Ohio, Cleveland Heights at 11 am and 2004 semi-finalist Sycamore at 1 pm. Lake Forest tied Sycamore last year 6-6 at the Windy City Classic, so the Scouts will be playing a little overtime against the Lady Aves.
New Trier will play the host school, Thomas Worthington at 6:30 pm on Friday. The Trevians tied the Cardinals last year 9-9 in Ohio. On Saturday, New Trier will play the State Champions Upper Arlington also at 10 am and then play the 2004 state runner-up Shaker Heights at Noon.
It should be a great weekend for Illinois lacrosse, safe travels and good luck to all the teams.
