The Great Lakes National Team tryouts were this past Sunday in Indianapolis. Illinois will be well represented, as 10 girls made either Great Lakes Team 1 or Team 2 and four other players were named alternates.
Making Great Lakes Team 1 were junior Caroline Tesar, sophomore Kathleen Dwyer and junior Katie Matthews from Loyola; juniors Kelley Brennan, Jillian Heinz and Jesse Bowen from New Trier; junior Lisa Landoe and sophomore Hannah Alley from Lake Forest.
Making Great Lakes Team 2 were Hinsdale Central sophomore Samantha Santulli and Evanston sophomore goalie Colleen Speth. New Trier`s Sara Buxton was asked to play for Great Lakes Team 2 as an alternate to replace another player.
The other players named alternates are Hinsdale Central`s Samantha Swade and Kendall Santulli, and Oak Park`s Meaghan Kelly.
Great Lakes Team 1 will be coached by Loyola head coach John Dwyer and Lake Forest head coach Stephen Dunn.
The National Tournament is Memorial Day weekend at Lehigh University. Last year, Great Lakes Team 1 won their division and advanced to the championship round, falling to Colorado 1 11-8.
