Girls Assistant Coach in Charge of the Frosh-Soph Lacrosse Team
Available: 2017 â 2018 school season
Position Description: Naperville North High School Girls Lacrosse is currently seeking a coach to lead our Freshman-Sophomore girls team this season. This is a part-time, coaching-only position.
The ideal applicant will have lacrosse experience, playing and/or coaching at the high school or college level. The desired coach will have strong player development, communication, organizational skills as well as a positive attitude and enthusiasm for the sport and team, be able to effectively motivate and develop both the novice and experienced player and attract new athletes to the sport and be available for practices scheduled after school hours from March to end of May.
The applicant will also have an understanding and respect for Naperville North`s academic programs and tradition of multi-sport athletes.
Specifically, the coach will:
o Develop a culture for the sport and build continuity throughout the program (at the JV and Varsity levels)
o Work with the Varsity and JV coaches in developing an off-season program and camps to develop players and promote the sport within the school district
o Act as a role model in all settings and foster an environment of respect, integrity and responsibility
o Exemplify a sense of professionalism with opponents, parents, faculty and staff
o Attend all required athletic department and association meetings and events
o Work with the athletic department on scheduling, managing equipment and uniforms, and effective communication with players and parents
If the applicant doesn`t already meet or exceed all IHSA coaching requirements, to include American Sport Education Program (ASEP) Certification and CPR Certification, applicant must obtain the necessary certifications prior to the start of the Spring 2018 season.
As mentioned prior, lacrosse experience is ideal. However, girls` lacrosse runs a transition similar to soccer as a field sport. The attack is similar to that of basketball with pick and rolls, stack plays and a motion offense. Girls lacrosse also has similarities to ice hockey with play around a crease.
Our Frosh-soph team will be in its 4th season this year (2018 spring season). In years most of the players have never played lacrosse, but are good athletes looking to compete in their primary sport`s off-season. Some of them every year have fallen in love with the sport and have converted to lacrosse as their primary sport. Practice will consist of many fundamentals. Can you put the FUN in fundamentals?
As a girls` lacrosse program at NNHS our coaching staff does work as a supportive unit. Both JV & Varsity coaches will help a new coach transition into their role as is needed.
